Dolmabahçe Clock Tower
One of the most important Sahat kulas is the Dolmabahçe Clock Tower. It is situated closed to the Dolmabahçe Palace. The 27 meter high tower was built for Sultan Abdul Hamid II by the Sarkis Balyan between 1890 and 1895. GOOGLE ADSENSE
The construction represents the neo-baroque style with in the Ottoman history. Interesting is that the mechanical clock itself was built by the French clock-house Jean-Paul Garnier About 1979 the clock was converted into an electrical one. The Clock tower is decorated by two calligraphies with the Sultan´s name, so-called tughra.
