Sakip Sabaci Museum
The Sakip Sabaci Museum today is better known as the Horse Mansion. In the past the mansion served as a royal residence and embassy of Montenegro. It was built in the 19th century and in 1951 the Sabanci family bought it as a summer house. The Sabanci family is a dynasty of Turkish most wealthy business-people. GOOGLE ADSENSE
Inside the entrance gate they placed a bronze statue of a horse which was designed by Louis Daumas. This sculpture becomes famous and the mansion owes its name to it. Before his death Sakip Sabanci converted the villa into a museum and ordered it to be opened to the public- this happens in June 2002. The Sakip Sabaci Museum houses antique furnishings and a nice art collections. Pictures from famous Turkish painters like Osman Hamdi Bey, Ibrahim Çalli or Fikret Mualla can be seen here but also European painters like Fausto Zonaro or Ivan Ayvazovsky are represented. Additionally the Sakip Sabaci Museum includes a large collection of calligraphies and manuscripts from the Quran and prayer books. Besides the Mansion's own artworks from time to time, it is also hosting great exhibitions of international artists such as Pablo Picasso, Rodin etc.
