Sehzade Camii
Just to mention the word camii is a synonym for mosque and is sometimes used. The Sehzade Camii was built by Süleyman I from 1544-1548. The mosque is located in Saraçhane and is close to Süleyman I `s other mosque the Süleyman Moschee.

Both were built by Mimar Sinan. However the Sehzade Camii, also known as Prince mosque was built in memory to Süleyman`s son Mehmet who had died very young. From outside it is made of different coloured stones, however the inside win over with its faiences. The style of the complex is very chaste without any twirl. The classical elegant mosque has 14 couples and 12 pillars. The ground plan is quadrate. The mosque has two minarettes and a beautiful courtgarden which can be entered by four gates. Included in the Camii-complex is a prayer school, a print shop and a gravesite. Especially the mausoleums are worth a visit, where als Süleyman`s son Mehmet was buried.
