Laleli Complex
The Turkish word laleli means tulip and so the Laleli complex is als known as the Tulip mosque/complex. It is located in the historical Old Istanbul city center and is in walk distance to the Grand Bazaar. It was built by Mustafa III in 1763 and represents the Ottoman baroque period. Unfortunately the mosque was destroyed by a earthquake in 1765 but was restored quickly.

The dome of the mosque has a diameter of 12 meters. Worth a closer look are 100 longitude coloured ornamented glass-windows which project an unique light display. As all typical mosque complexe also the Laleli Complex roofed a people`s kitchen, a fountain and a caravansaray as well as a mausoleum with the corps of Mustafa III and his son Selim III.
