Hirka-i-Serif mosque
The Hirka-i- Serif mosque is located close to Fatih. It was built by Sultan Abdülmecit in 1851. It is said that it houses the most important relic of the Islam the cloak of the Prophet Mohammed. GOOGLE ADSENSE
Besides this other relics of can be visited there, as are a piece of the Prophet Muhammad's tooth, some hairs of his beard or the rod of moses. For the Ottoman sultans the Hirka-i- Serif mosque was an especially holly place and they used to come here before important military campaigns to pray. Also on accession to the throne, the new sultan before the ceremony itself come to the hall of the Hirka-i-Serif mosque to pray.
