Fatih Mosque has a classic mosque style with a strong baroque influence. A large couple is supported by three half-domes and rests upon four large marble columns. The mosque has two minarets. There are two important charcteristics of the mosque`s style: the baroque calligraphy and the theme dresses. The complexe also includes a library and it has three gates: one towards the street, while the other two are towards the inner courtyard of the mosque.
The tombs of Mehmet II and his wife are located in front of the mihrab wall of the mosque. Interesting is also that the original Fatih Mosque was on the ruins of the Church of the Holy Apostles. Even building materials from the church where recycled and used for the foundation. Note that each Wednesday the area around the mosque is filled with a busy street market.
