Beyazid Complex
The Beyazid II mosque complex was constructed from 1501 -1506. Beyazid II was a very religious leader. The location of the mosque today is one of Istanbul`s most important commercial and cultural center.

The ottoman architecture and art periode consists of 6 epochs. This complex was built during the third phase , the classical epoch where an imperial style was dominate.. With the Beyazid II mosque the new Ottoman mosque style was born. It is said that one day Beyazid the II caught a mermaid which prognosted him gold under the former bazaar where the mosque has been built. From this gold he built the complex and freed the mermaid.
