Saint Stephan church
This Bulgarian orthodox church is without any doubt one of the most interesting churches in Istanbul. During Ottoman times the Bulgarian Orthodox church was part of the Fener patriarchy, however it separates in the 19th century. Thereupon a wooden church was built between Balar and Fener. Later this church was enlarged by a special technic by the Armenier architect Hovsep Aznavur. GOOGLE ADSENSE
The building parts were imported via ship from Vienna to Istanbul. The construction was finished in 1886. It is not so easy to have a view on the church interior as there are no official opening hours. But, just visit one of the services on Sunday morning.
