The synagogue is located in front of the Galata-tower. However in the past there were some problems with the building of the complex , as the government was not willing to give a permission to the Jewish community . However the situation changed and the construction was finally finished in 1938 but it takes almost twenty more years until it was legally confirmed to run the community.

Worth seeing is the 8 tonne heavy candelabrum. The interior is made of marble and the windows were imported from England. Unfortunately in recent past the Neve Shalom Synagogue was subject to several terroristic attacks. Due to this hazard the community introduced some regulations concerning visiting hours.
